    You may have recently updated Inkscape from a much older version. e.g. 0.92.x versions.

    Welcome to a more powerful Inkscape!

    Inkscape now has many UI (user interface) options beyond the .92 versions:

    • Dark or light themes
    • Symbolic or classic icons 
    • Toolbar icon scaling
    • Node and handle scaling
    • Scrolling and multi-column toolbox
    • Flyout or static Snapping bar
    • Dialogs can be tabbed or stacked horizontally or vertically, in docks on the right or left, or floating with tabs or stacked

    Most of these options are found in the Preferences>Interface window.

    At my local makerspace, we set up Inkscape to look like the .92 style interface. (Our computers are Windows 11, with 1920x1080 monitors. )

    We start by using these settings:

    Preferences>Interface>Theming> 

    • Theme set to Minwaita-Inkscape
    • Checkbox for symbolic icons: unchecked
    • Icons set to Use system theme (Adwaita)

    Preferences>Interface>Toolbars>

    • Toolbox Icon size 150%
    • Control bar icon size 150%
    • Snapping toolbar (radio button) Permanent

    The updates to the User Interface are numerous and they are just the beginning...

    There are many, many new features beyond the UI.
